What are the Binary Logic Gates?

 


Binary logic gates in digital electronics are the basic component. These gates perform basic logical functions essential for digital circuits and are used extensively in everything from simple electronic devices to complex computer systems.





What are the Binary Logic Gates?


A binary logic gate simply means an electronic device that can take (0's or 1's) inputs to produce a single binary output and all the operations of these gates depend on boolean algebra.



Types of Binary Logic Gates:


There are several binary logic gates but the most common ones are:-


1- AND Gate:


The AND gate outputs a 1 only if all its inputs are 1 ( Like multiplying each input).






2- OR Gate:


The OR gate outputs a 1 if at least one of its inputs is 1 ( Like adding each input).







3- NOT Gate:


The NOT gate, also known as an inverter, outputs the opposite of the input. If the input is 1, the output is 0, and vice versa.






4- NAND Gate:


The NAND gate is the opposite of the AND gate.








5- NOR Gate:


The NOR gate is the opposite of the OR gate.








6- XOR Gate:


The XOR (exclusive OR) gate outputs a 1 if only one of its inputs is 1. If both inputs are the same, the output is 0.




7- XNOR Gate:


The XNOR (exclusive NOR) gate is the opposite of the XOR gate. if both input numbers are the same then the output is equal to 1.
